外籍學生楓葉留學記

2020 Graduate

Graduation is an essential event. It is where our future truly starts and where all the problems get harder to solve. However, the bright side is that we are off to somewhere beautiful, and hopefully, we will become great people whom will contribute to our society.

畢業，是我們求學過程中的一件至關重要的事情。它是我們的未來真正開始的地方，當然，也意味著更多的挑戰。不過值得慶祝的是，我們正向美好出發，努力成為這個社會的頂梁柱。

This is my first and last year as a Maple Leaf student. Therefore, my time with the school is very short. Nevertheless,I can fully understand why Maple Leaf students will likely become world scholars.Throughout this time, the school taught me about social responsibility, teamwork, and creativity. The skills aforementioned are three of the most important keys in becoming successful which is why I believe Maple Leaf students will become great people in the future.

作為一個轉學生，這是我在楓葉的第一年，也是最後一年。儘管在學校的時間很短，但我完全可以理解為什麽楓葉學生有很大的潛力成為世界級學者。這段時間裡，學校教會了我社會責任，團隊合作和創造力---這些是獲得成功的三個最關鍵的要素。這就是為什麽我堅信楓葉的學生終將會成為偉大的人。

Social responsibility is one of the core competencies that we are required to learn in school. It teaches us how to be responsible socially and individually. Possessing this skill will assist us in becoming a responsible person when taking up tasks. It gives us value as human beings and will also give the people around us a feeling of security. For instance, when we are put into groups in our Marketing and Promotion class to do a project, we would separate the workload to finish the job faster and more effectively. This way it makes each of us responsible for the project.

社會責任是我們在楓葉學習的核心能力之一。它教會我們如何對社會和個人負責。擁有這種技能將有助於我們在承擔任務時成為一個負責任的人。它給予我們生而為人的價值，也給我們身邊的人們帶來安全感。舉個例子，當我們在市場行銷課上做小組項目時，我們會分工合作，以便更快、更有效地完成任務，也使得我們每一個人都對這個項目負有責任。

Another core competency that we learn in school is creativity skills. Creativity is where new inventions start. With this skill, we are able to create something new and helpful for our lives. For example, when iPhone first released in 2007, it changes our lives drastically. People no longer seek for buttons phones. Our interests divert to touchscreen technology devices instead. Similarly, in class we are asked to make posters including creative drawings, multiple colors, and designs. In my English 12 class, we have to create a display or a drawing of how a utopia will, inevitably, turn into a dystopia. This activity highly improved our creativity skills because it gave us an opportunity to go beyond the boundaries by allowing us to make the display without limitations.

我們在楓葉學習的另一個核心能力是創造力。創造力是新發明的起點。有了這項技能，我們就有能力產生新思想，創造新事物，對我們生活的方方面面有所幫助。例如，2007年iPhone首次發布時，它極大地改變了我們的生活。人們不再追求有按鍵的電話，我們的興趣轉向擁有觸摸屏技術的設備。同樣的，在課堂上，我們被要求製作海報，運用包括創意素描、多種顏色和設計在內的各種方式來表現我們的作品。比方說，在我的12年級英語課上，老師要求我們創造關於“一個烏托邦將如何不可避免地變成反烏托邦”的展示或者繪畫作品。因為展示形式不受限制，所以這項活動讓我們有機會超越界限，極大地提高了我們的創造力。

Last but not least, the school also teaches us one of the most important skills in our lives, teamwork. Without teamwork it is very hard to accomplish a big goal. Why? Because a big goal contains many little things, and in order to finish those tiny components many man power are needed. In school, we are frequently asked to complete assignments in group. These activities' goal is to improve our teamwork communication. Knowing what it means to work as a team will play a big part in the future of our lives because working together will always defeat working alone. Just like what my teacher always say“Teamwork makes the dream work.”

最後，楓葉還教會了我們生活中最重要的能力之一，團隊合作。沒有團隊合作就很難完成一個遠大的目標。這是為什麽呢？因為一個大的目標包含許多小的過程。要完成這些小的組成部分，則需要許多人的力量。在楓葉，我們經常被要求分小組完成作業。這些活動的目標是增進我們的團隊溝通能力。懂得團隊協作的意義，將在我們未來的生活中發揮巨大的作用。因為“一根筷子容易折，十根筷子堅如鐵”，正如我們老師總是掛在嘴邊的,“團隊合作讓夢想成真”。

With all the three skills mastered, Maple Leaf students will definitely come out to be world scholars. I believe the work we put in will pay off in our future careers because all of us acknowledge that all the things we learn here are valuable lessons that will help us overcome the obstacles in our lives.

掌握了這三項技能，楓葉學子必會成為活躍在全世界的精英人才。我相信我們付出的努力終將在未來的職業生涯中得到回報。因為我們每一個人都深深地明白，在楓葉學到的所有東西都是寶貴的經驗，這些都將幫助我們克服未來生活中的種種障礙和困難。
